सुपरकंप्यूटर एक special

computer है जो की general purpose computer की तुलना मे बहुत high level की calculation or computing perform कर सकता है | इसलिये ही supercomputer उस computer system को कहा जाता है जो की किसी भी समय मे सभी available computer system की तुलना मे सबसे तेज and powerful होता है | इस system को वहां पर काम मे लिया जाता है जहाँ पर बहुत ज्यादा power and fast processing के साथ साथ real time task perform करने होते है | Starting मे सुपरकंप्यूटर्स को scientific and engineering applications जिनमे बहुत ज्यादा बड़े databases and high level computation की जरुरत होती थी, मे काम मे लिया जाता था |

अगर supercomputer की speed and memory की बात की जाये तो यह exceptional होती है | ये computers किसी भी काम को, उस generation के किसी भी computer की तुलना मे बहुत फ़ास्ट कर perform कर सकते है | ये ordinary personal computers की तुलना मे हज़ारो गुना fast seed से task को perform करतें है | Supercomputers arithmetic calculation बहुत फ़ास्ट परफॉर्म कर सकते है इसलिए ही इनको weather फोरकास्टिंग, code-breaking, जेनेटिक analysis and दूसरे वो काम जहाँ पर ज्यादा calculation ज्यादा होती है, use किया जाता है | Supercomputer जितना fast होगा वह उतना ही expensive होगा इसलिए supercomputers को बनाने और use करना इतना आसान नहीं होता |
